ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE

TOA has adopted the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol to quantify and report our greenhouse gas footprint. In 2009, for the first time, we set a greenhouse gas (GHG) target.

From 2009 to 2018, we reduced greenhouse gas intensity by 21 percent. This means that our operations have avoided 23,450 tons of CO2 equivalent greenhouse gas emissions, equivalent to 54,292 barrels of oil.

In 2019, TOA joined the Fashion Industry Climate Action Charter (FICCA). Signatories to FICCA have pledged bold climate action by 2030. TOA has set a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45 per cent by 2030 compared with the 2018 baseline. To ensure a 45% greenhouse gas emissions trajectory, TOA has set an additional 11% reduction in greenhouse gas intensity from the 2018 target by 2022.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

TOA implements waste prevention and recycling to reduce the amount of waste we put in landfills.

One of our most impressive sustainability initiatives is to use cotton scraps from cutting tables to create new garments. In order to reduce factory waste, we transform the traditional life cycle of garment streamline products into a recyclable life cycle. this「Closed cycle」The aim is to reuse and upgrade waste as much as possible.

Through the development of recyclable cotton products, we provide an excellent new choice for green brands, retailers and customers.

WASTE WATER DISCHARGE

TOA is committed to fully complying with local wastewater discharge regulations, ZDHC wastewater guidelines, and bluesign standards. TOA initially invested in biological treatment specifically used in all wastewater treatment plants. This is because the chemicals used in chemical treatment often cause pollution to the environment. However, as regulations and industry standards become increasingly stringent, we now use some chemical treatments to ensure that wastewater meets all wastewater quality parameters before being discharged from the factory.

But with the continuous improvement of our own sewage treatment technology, our sewage recovery rate has exceeded 50% since 2015, and as of this year, TOA's sewage recovery rate has exceeded 70%.
